My brother recently looked into moving there from Las Vegas and found that rents are much more than he would have thought. There is a fairly big difference between living near the water and inland just a few blocks. Fort Lauderdale is a great town and certainly offers much more than just "spring break" fun for college kids every year. If you are inclined to live near the ocean, consider the Sunrise Harbor Apartments - they are literally just a bridge away from the ocean. They have 5 floorplans for both the single bedroom apartments and the 2 bedrooms as well. Pricing on a 1 bedroom 1 bath unit starts at just over $1700. The website lists availability and you can reserve online. The 2 bedroom 2 bath apartments (unfurnished) start at $2195. Satori is a luxury apartment complex with 1, 2, and 3 bedroom layouts starting at $1795. You can also check availability on their website and get details about floorplans and ratings or reviews. Gables Wilton Park is another great spot with studios, lofts, flats, and townhomes. Luxury studio lofts start at $1400. If you are ok with living a bit further out, consider the Coconut Palm Club Apartments in Coconut Creek - still not cheap - but great amenities.
