Washington State University Apartment Rentals

If you plan on going to college at Washington State University in Pullman, WA, be prepared to search a bit for off-campus housing. While many of the freshman live on campus in residence halls, quite a few go off-campus and find housing at the sororities and fraternities. By sophomore year you have 1000's of students prowling the limited availabilities in the surrounding areas. WSU does own several apartment complexes which house the students, but the majority are forced to fend for themselves in a somewhat crowded rental market. On campus you will hear lots of discussion about the College Hill area and Apartment Land. These 2 regions are your best source of rental homes and apartments that are within walking distance to campus or you can just hop on the Pullman Transit System buses. Weather in Pullman tends to be dryer and a touch colder than other areas in the state of Washington so walking or riding a bike to campus is commonplace. DABCO Property Management is another excellent source for apartments for rent near WSU campus. They offer 10 apartment communities - most on the bus line to campus which makes it very convenient for those without cars. I like the fact that their website offers up to date information on apartment availability within each complex. Many of the single bedroom apartments are fully booked, but the 2 bedroom units are readily available throughout the year and offered at $725 up to $1250. The one bedroom apartments rent for $500 to $600. If you have pets check with the manager first to see if they allow them. No sense in wasting your time. Ask about things like parking, lease agreements, repairs, noise levels, amenities, and shared housing.



  • DABCO Property Management - Great selection of rental apartments (Emerald Downs, Maple Valley, Apsen Village) near the campus of WSU. Pullman is not a big town so most complexes are within walking distance to the university. See a list of amenities, pet policies, lease terms, and a map of all their property locations. They do offer a few more expensive options like the Bridgeway Centre in downtown Pullman which has rents that start $1000/month for a 1 bedroom and $1250 for 2 bedroom units.
  • Pullman Apartment Rentals 15+ communities to check out. Several on Wheatland Drive, Lamont Street, Hillside Drive, and Valley Road NE. Rental rates for 1 bedroom units are around $500/month while the 2 bedroom apartments go for $600 to $700. The website is well layed out with photos of each unit along with descriptions of the property.
  • Slocum Apartments - Want to be near College Hill? Lots of apartments to rent within walking distance to campus. Many of the leases start in June, so apply early as these prime location properties fill up very fast. Locations include Alpha Road, NE Campus, NE Maiden Lane, and California.

Choose from Chinook Village, Columbia Village, Nez Perce Village and Chief Joseph Village. They will even help you find a roommate. Some complexes are setup for those with families and those that are graduate students.

Rent a House Near WSU Campus

Living off campus can be a great experience and not everyone wants to live in a cramped apartment. Finding a house to rent near Washington State University is possible if you plan early. Many of the listings we found online are booked months in advance. We have listed services like Anita's Rentals and DRA Real Estate Rentals that help students find affordable housing around the WSU campus in Pullman. If you have roommmates that will save a bit on monthly rents. The closer to campus the more expensive, but keep in mind how convenient it is if you are only a 10 minute walk to your classes. The biggest problem for college students is knowing how to go about finding a rental. Most have only acquired housing through the help of the university. You'll need to ask lots of questions before renting any house, but if you get organized there's a good chance you will find a quality place to live. Craigslist is a last option in our eyes for renting a home. There are plenty of listings, but we strongly suggest working with property management agencies that tend be more accountable to their clients than individual homeowners that rent their homes.

  • Anita's Rentals - Decent list of houses all within 3 to 4 blocks from WSU campus. Rent ranges from $1560 for a 4 bedroom all the way up to $2000+. They also list dozens of 1, 2, and 3 bedroom duplexes, 6-plex, 9-plex, and 11 plexes. Great affordable apartments and houses in Pullman.
  • DRA Real Estate Rentals - Currently list 7 houses for rent in Pullman. Rents go from $1500 to $2500. Availability is listed on their website - locations include Military Hill and College Hill.
  • Washington State University Off-Campus Housing Guide - Very thorough guide with information on roommates, landlord-tenant law, leases and landlords, moving in and out, and much more.
  • Summit Realty - They do not manage all these properties, but they do act as a referral service for some their listings. Worth a look since they do offer quite a bit.
